Is cryptocurrency really truly going mainstream this time? If digital currency company Gemini’s co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have it their way, cryptocurrency would be available to you to pay for routine daily expenses, such as groceries, movies, and retail products. Through a new partnership with an app called Spedn, users have an opportunity to pay with cryptocurrency at retailers like Whole Foods, Crate and Barrel, Nordstrom, Starbucks, and others.

  • A new app, Spedn, has partnered with Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether, and Gemini to give users more cryptocurrency-payment options
  • Retailers are still on the fence, as are consumers, as cryptocurrency attempts to gain more stable footing in the mainstream economy
  • Retailers also feel hesitant about accepting cryptocurrency due to its price volatility, slow processing times, and popularity amongst cybercriminals
  • Anticipating hurdles, Flexa smoothes the process between merchants and the blockchain, expediting payments through its network and streamlining the payment process
  • Retailers are curious about consumers behavior towards this “experimental” project and are waiting for more data and information to be collected about cryptocurrency being mainstream-ready and answering consumer demand

“The idea of living on crypto is now a reality. You can now do it,” said Tyler Winklevoss to Fortune. “For the consumer, it amounts to being crypto conscious. It’s like being green.”

I read the article mentioned above (https://www.technologyreview.com/f/613532/you-can-now-pay-with-cryptocurrency-at-whole-foods) and thought it was interesting. While I am not offering an endorsement of a strategy, tactics, thoughts, service nor a company or author, the information was intellectually stimulating and thoughtful and worth a review.
