Breaking made its highly-anticipated debut on the world stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
While dozens of talented b-boys and b-girls battled it out for medals, many viewers were captivated – and confused – by the performance given by Australia’s Raygun.
The 36-year-old university professor went viral after awkwardly squirming on the dance floor and hopping around like a kangaroo as she displayed a much lower skill level than her competitors, scoring zero points.
It led fans to question whether the controversial sport will return when the Summer Olympics head to Los Angeles in 2028.
It was previously confirmed that breaking is not in the lineup of sports that will appear at the next Games.

Although it could make a return when the Olympics head Down Under to Raygun’s native Australia for Brisbane 2032, leaders say it’s unlikely.
‘It was a miracle that we were even in Paris to begin with,’ Zack Slusser, vice president of Breaking for Gold USA and USA Dance, said per NBC.
‘The amount of exposure to the right people that can bring real change to our community, to our platform to help it grow — it’ll be significant to us. It’ll allow us, for the first time, to find sustainability and help us elevate our platform,’ Slusser went on.
‘It would be great to see breaking make it back to the Olympic Games again. But at the same time, it’s really going to go back to community work and leveraging this opportunity internally.’
When California hosts the next Olympics, six new sports will be added to the schedule: cricket, flag football, baseball, softball, lacrosse and squash.
While it’s the first time flag football and squash will be played at the Olympics, cricket and lacrosse are returning to the line-up for the first time in over 100 years.
Baseball and softball also used to appear at the Games, but were dropped in 2008.
It comes amid widespread discussion surrounding Raygun (whose real is Rachael Gunn) and her now-viral performance in Paris.

Even Adele halted her concert in Munich over the weekend to reveal ‘it’s all me and my friends have been talking about’.
‘I am not saying anything, but I think it’s the best thing that has happened at the Olympics for the entire time,’ Adele told her fans, noting she wasn’t sure whether Raygun was a serious entrant.
‘I can’t work out if it was a joke but either way it has made me very very happy and me and my friends have been s***ing ourselves laughing for nearly 24 hours,’ she went on.
‘I just wanted to know if you have seen it. If you haven’t seen it please leave the show and Google it because it is LOLZ.
Raygun has kept a relatively low profile in the wake of her performance, but did make a statement on social media in the midst of the barrage of commentary.
‘What I wanted to do was come out here and do something new and different and creative — that’s my strength, my creativity,’ she said.
‘I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best, the dynamic and the power moves, so I wanted to move differently, be artistic and creative because how many chances do you get that in a lifetime to do that on an international stage.
‘I was always the underdog and wanted to make my mark in a different way.’
