The United States women’s basketball team are Olympic champions for a record-breaking eighth consecutive time.
But their gold medal game against France was far closer than almost everybody predicted, with the host nation level at halftime and well in contention throughout.
The USA were far from their best but fought back to maintain an undefeated streak that goes back to the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
