One of the biggest events at the 2024 Paris Olympics will see the men’s basketball final featuring the host nation France taking on Team USA, the overwhelming pre-competition favorite.
Team USA trailed Serbia by 17 at one point, but — sparked by Steph Curry’s 36 points — came roaring back in the second half to clinch a 95-91 semifinal win. In Thursday’s other semifinal, France held Germany off in a tight 73-69 contest, avenging a 14-point loss to the same opponents in the group stage. That means we’ll see a rematch of the 2020 Olympics final, which the United States won 87-82.
Olympic men’s basketball has been dominated by the U.S. over the years, with Team USA claiming 16 gold medals out of 20 Olympic tournaments. A win on Saturday would be a fifth straight Olympic gold medal for the United States.
