When it comes to cultural representation at the games, the internet is in agreement: Team Mongolia’s uniforms for the Paris Olympics are giving gold.
Since the Mongolian couture brand, Michel & Amazonka unveiled their uniforms on Instagram earlier this month, users on both Instagram and TikTok have been admiring the perfect blend of culture and style.
According to Montsame, Mongolia’s national news agency, the team will wear the viral uniforms at the Olympics opening ceremony. The outfits feature embroidery with relevant symbols to the nation. In addition to the Olympic torch and the emblem of the Paris Olympics, the uniforms showcase symbols of Mongolian traditions, including the sun, moon, and the Gua-Maral — a mythical deer from Mongolian folklore.
“Omg u guys really ate this one,” one user wrote in the comments section of the reveal post.
“Really stunning combination of Mongolian and Hellenistic influences,” added another. “Divine.”

In a Facebook post by Michel & Amazonka, the brand explained how it crafted the custom uniforms by taking detailed measurements of each athlete’s body. The ensembles were crafted over three months in six stages, and it took an average of 20 hours to create a single uniform.
According to NBC News, Michel Choigaalaa and Amazonka Choigaalaa are the designers behind Michel & Amazonka and are sisters. The two designed Mongolia’s uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies for the past two Olympic Games.
