Kennedi Dobson, a 17-year-old swimmer from Middletown Township’s Levittown section, recently took a trip to Indianapolis for one of her biggest swim meets to date. One day, you may see her in the Olympics.

Kennedi participated in the Olympic trials to try to get a spot on Team USA.

While she did not qualify for Team USA for the Paris Olympics, she did qualify for the under-18 USA team, and she will be traveling to Australia to compete.

Kennedi, who is an incoming senior at Neshaminy High School, said she also can try to qualify for the Olympics again in 2028.

In the meantime, she plans to compete locally and practice in preparation for August.

The trials earlier this year were held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and drew swimmers from around the country.

“It was crazy,” she said. “There were so many people, and swimming in a football field was a crazy feeling.”

Kennedi recalled seeing and competing next to many swimmers she looks up to, including seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky.

“It’s crazy to see them in person, and it’s even crazier to compete against them and see how they prepare themselves for the race,” she said.

Kennedi will head to the University of Georgia after high school, and her goal is to swim on their team.

Kennedi has been swimming for 14 years. Her mother was a swimmer and wanted Kennedi to learn how to swim, and that’s when her instructor suggested she try to swim competitively.

In July, Kennedi was honored at the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors meeting for her hard work and success as a swimmer.
