Swimming on the big screen? Gymnastics on the big screen? Track and field on the big screen?
That’s right. The 2024 Paris Olympics will be playing in theaters. The Opening Ceremony will be presented live on 150 IMAX screens in theaters around the country. There will also be NBC watch parties at AMC theaters at 160 locations throughout the duration of the Paris Olympics.
“The Olympic Games always provide a wonderful, shared experience, and this summer communities across the country will have the opportunity to cheer for Team USA or their own hometown hero in local AMC Theatres,” Gary Zenkel, president of NBC Olympics, said in a press release. “The afternoon broadcasts on NBC will offer many of the most compelling live moments from Paris, and we believe these gatherings will fuel overall enthusiasm for the Games.”
Here in the Valley, there are a handful of local theaters that will be showing the Olympics.
“It’s another way people can watch the Olympics in a way they never have before,” NBC Sports vice president of social media Justin Karp said.
Which theaters can I see the 2024 Paris Olympics at?
The Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, which will feature athletes floating down the Seine River, will kickoff IMAX’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The next day, July 27, is when the daily watch parties at AMC theaters start.
There is only one theater where the Opening Ceremony can be seen at the AMC Dine-In theater at Desert Ridge 18 located at 21001 North Tatum Blvd. in northeast Phoenix. The showing starts at 10:30 a.m. local time.

How do I buy tickets?
Tickets for the opening ceremony can be bought on the IMAX website, through AMC theaters itself, or with Fandango.
For daily showings of the Olympics at AMC, tickets can be bought in the following ways:
Tickets can also be bought in person at the theater location. Private screenings are available for purchase as well. Tickets have already sold out for some events.
For the Opening Ceremony, tickets on AMC are $20.24 (well played AMC) for all ages while they are $21.98 on Fandango.
Ticket prices vary between AMC and Fandango for each theater for the daily showings, but don’t exceed $10.20 for adults.
