During the Olympics, Paris had roughly 11.2 million visitors move through the city. There were 9.5 million Olympics tickets sold, and people went from monument to monument to watch world-class athletic performances. But even during the Olympics, Paris is filled with a few can’t-miss monuments. So, between volleyball matches and archery competitions, Olympics fans became the judges of Paris’s world-class museums and infamous architecture.
Thousands of reviews were left on Google for Paris’s most famous attractions during the three-week period of the Summer Olympics. Most were very generous with their scores—but some of these tourists-turned-judges were very unimpressed with what Paris had to offer.

Eiffel Tower
“It’s a very nice view but I got drunk and as I made my way down the tower I sobered up and got scared.”
“They don’t let standard size flags in. DON’T bring flags. You will have to leave them at the entrance. Great view though.”
“Beautiful landmark. Just a bit off as there was construction going on all over the place before the Olympics and there was no toilet nearby.”

Louvre
“Superb but too big.”
“Huge museum. We didn’t anticipate the sheer size of it and everything in it. Luckily we could stop for burgers and Starbucks along the way. Heaps of food options. Way out was a little hard to navigate.”

“It’s definitely very nice and the Eiffel Tower is too, but the prices around it are a disgrace in my opinion. I no longer call it the city of love but the city of rip-offs.”
“It’s not worth the attention it gets in my opinion. It is a good museum but it’s crowded at any time of the day and week and you get shoved through spaces that are hard to navigate even with maps. The selection of paintings is okay. The sculptures are great and the objects are interesting but if you’re specifically interested in paintings I wouldn’t recommend it.”
“Beautiful landmark from the exterior, although due to the Olympics and peak tourist time, we were unable to get close to it. Didn’t buy tickets as museums aren’t my thing, although I was stoked to see it in person. A must visit!”
Arc de Triomphe
“Must see before the Eiffel Tower, but a very cool site that I didn’t initially care to see. Great souvenirs, and we got to see the Olympics ceremony completely by accident. LOTS of winding stairs. Made us very dizzy.”
“Wouldn’t bother. Massively over-hyped and nothing like the photos. Only good thing is that crowds were light and traffic on the Champs-Elysees was also fine.”
“Crowded because of the Olympic Games but it was a beautiful experience.”
“The Arc and the symbol of this is a glorious site to see. The people however are not. Everything you hear about the rudeness of the French is about all true. It’s not all of the French people but a very good majority. The beauty of this country almost outweighs that one glaring fact. I digress. There are 296 steps to the top or you can take an elevator , but be aware the elevator is small and the line can get long. Once to the top the views are spectacular. If you come here be careful of thieves and robbers especially on the Metro. Head on a swivel watch your 6.”
