That’s our pommel horse guy. After rising to fame for his pommel horse prowess at the 2024 Paris Games, two-time bronze medalist Stephen Nedoroscik is ready to shed his glasses again to step onto the dance floor of the reality series Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) this fall.
The celebrity dance competition has already featured six female Olympic gymnasts over the years, including Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, Mary Lou Retton, Laurie Hernandez, Simone Biles and Suni Lee. But Nedoroscik will be the first male Olympic gymnast to join the star-studded cast, which will be fully announced on September 4. Both Johnson (season 8) and Hernandez (season 23) won the Mirrorball Trophy.
When Nedoroscik’s debut on DWTS was announced on Thursday on Good Morning America, he excitedly shared that he plans to incorporate some of his pommel horse skills into his dances. “I want to bring some flair; I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a backflip or handstand. I want to have fun with it.”
While it’s hard to make predictions for his success on the show until the rest of the cast is announced, Nedoroscik is now known for his clutch performance during the men’s gymnastics team final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA went into the last rotation of the competition needing to make all three routines on pommel horse. After his teammates hit their sets, Nedoroscik, who had waited the entire meet to show his specialty, hit a big routine to lead the team on the event and clinch the bronze medal for Team USA. This was the first Olympic team medal for the U.S. men’s gymnastics program in 16 years. Nedoroscik later took another bronze medal in the individual event finals for pommel horse.
How to Watch
DWTS is set to premiere on September 17 on ABC.
